Meeting with the Rector of the University of the Aegean in Greece

On March 27th 2025 took place the meeting between the participants of the 3rd ASECU Youth Winter School and the Rector of the University of the Aegean in Greece Professor Dimitrios Papageorgiou. During the meeting, the Rector acquainted the attendees with the history of the university’s establishment, its objectives, and placed special emphasis on the internationalization of education in a globalized world. Significant attention during the meeting was devoted to the Erasmus+ program and its opportunities for students and faculty staff of the ASECU’s partners Universities.

“We are sincerely grateful to the University of the Aegean in Greece, and especially to the Rector, Professor Papageorgiou, for the invitation and the opportunity to exchange views and experiences with scholars from the partner Universities of the Association. New acquaintances, constructive proposals, the exchange of ideas, and discussions on future cooperation are the context of our work these days. I hope that the partnership between the Universities will become the first link for future projects!” stated Professor Irina Goncharenko, Doctor of Sciences in Public Administration and Head of the Finance Department of Cherkasy State Technological University during the meeting.

For reference: The University of the Aegean in Greece is the most geographically distributed University in Greece. Its 6 schools and 18 faculties are located on six islands of the Aegean Sea. In 2025, the total student body of the University reached 20,000, including more than 17,000 undergraduates students, over 2,100 postgraduates, and 860 PhD candidates.
